In November 2009, Jim and daughter, Sherri, along with brothers Jay and Chuck and wives Venda and Shirley, embarked on a 16 day vacation which included a 12 day cruise aboard the “Grand Princess”.  Some of the places we visited were Rome, Naples, Pompei, Herculean, Athens, Ephesus and Istanbul in Turkey, Mykonos, and Egypt including Port Said, Cairo and the Pyramids and Sphynx and Alexandria.  Who could have imagined  3 “Sandtown” kids would ever be roaming around 3 continents and taking in the sights at these exotic places.

We flew out of Las Vegas to Rome, with a plane change at JFK airport in New York.  We arrived in Rome about 9:00 in the morning and couldn’t check into our hotel until 1:00 so we visited the Roman Colloseum.  Next day we went by train to Civetachetea, Italy where we boarded the “Grand Princess” cruise ship.  We spent 12 days on the ship visiting ports around the Mediterranean and Agean Seas.

One of the highlights of the trip was Cairo, Egypt where we visited the great pyramids and actually rode on camels for a short distance.

At the end of the cruise we took the train back to Rome and spent 3 days sightseeing, before returning to Las Vegas, via New York.
